Four women take turns to play pipe organ for Women’s Day service at San Thome church

On International Women’s Day, which happened to be on a Sunday this year, CSI St. Thomas English Church in San Thome had an all-women team of organists to provide music for the service.

The team was led by Anila Manoharan (the church organist, seated second from right in the photo), playing the 152-year-old pipe organ during Matins – the morning worship service.

Seen in this photo, standing from left to right, are Rebecca Martin, Natasha Jacob and Aria Manoharan – budding organists who took turns in playing the pipe organ on Women’s Day.

Recently restored, this single manual Thomas Robson pipe organ, dated 1868, is the second oldest in Chennai city.
