The St Thomas Cathedral community has donated about Rs.7.5 lakhs to provide scholarships to students of the parish.
Fr Arulraj, parish priest of the church said that some 250 plus students from economically poor families were granted funds to pay for school fees for this academic year.
Though there have been pleas from parish families for funds after they were affected badly by the pandemic conditions, the community chose to focus on supporting students.
The financial support was given in early September.
