St Thomas Cathedral will celebrate the annual feast of Our Lady of Mylapore from Oct.18 to 21. This was decided by the parish council and clergy and will follow current protocols applicable to places of prayer.
This shortened form of the fest opens with the flag hoisting on day one evening on the church campus.
The image of Mother Mary, now located on an altar in the south side of the cathedral is a vintage one and is said to have been installed a few centuries ago and saint Francis Xavier, when here was said to have prayed before it.
This Mary has now got the avatar of Mylapore Madha.
