Fourth soma vaara 108 sanga abhisekam held at Sri Kapali Temple

It is a muhurtham day and Sri Kapali Temple is abuzz on Monday morning with three weddings taking place in front of the Navarathri mandapam.

Just after 9.30am, E Venkatasubramanian Shivachariar is ready with his assistant for the final 108 Sangaabhisekam Pooja on the fourth Soma Vaaram of Karthigai.

For the next two hours, the two worked in tandem performing the abhisekam with Othuvar Sathgurunathar coming in at the end to present the sacred verses.

Several devotees specifically visited the temple on Monday morning to have a darshan of the 108 Sanaga abhisekam. By the time Venkatasubramanian Shivachariarar presented the deepa aradhanai just before 11.30am after sankalpam with the HR & CE representative, a sizeable crowd had gathered to witness the culmination of the homam.

1008 Sangaabhisekam will take at Uchi Kaalam next Monday (Dec 20). It has become a tradition at the temple to celebrate the first four Mondays of Karthigai with 108 Sangabhisekam and the fifth with 1008 conches.
