Vivekananda Cultural Centre (a unit of Sri Ramakrishna Math, Mylapore) is located inside the Vivekanandar Illam campus, Kamarajar Salai (Marina Beach Road) Thiruvallikeni.
This is the historic location where swami Vivekananda stayed for nine days. This centre, which functions as an ‘Academy for Human Excellence’, has imparted training to more than 11,000 participants through wellness, traditional art and personality enhancement programs since its inception in 2014, seven years ago.
The centre conducts snappy job-oriented, free courses (sponsored by donors) for underprivileged students. These are on yoga, meditation, spiritual classes, Thanjavur painting, music (mridangam), life skills, spoken English and spoken Hindi courses ( a nominal fee is charged for this).
