Small crowd bids for saris offered by devotees at Sri Kapali Temple

From time to time, an auction is held for sale of the saris that are offered to the goddess at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple in Mylapore by devotees.

One such auction took place this Wednesday, May 18 morning at the Navaratri mantapam where this is usually held.

Cotton and pattu silk saris were put up for auction which was conducted by HR&CE Dept, staff.

While prices for the cotton saris started at Rs.200, the pattu silk saris were quoted much higher. A few people, mostly women participated and even bid for some saris.

When the bidding gets hyper, the bids for cotton saris go up to Rs.800 plus, says a staff.
