26-day Veda Parayanam at 90-year-old Veda Adhyayana Sabha

After a gap of 18 years, the Veda Adhyayana Sabha on Pichu Pillai Street will be organising a Krishna Yajur Veda Ghana Parayanam for 26 days,  next Wednesday (Sept 28) onwards.

16 ghanapadigals will be presenting the Parayanam from 8am to 12 noon, 3pm to 5.30 pm and 6.30pm to 7.30 pm.

The Sabha had organised a four day Veda Sammelanam  in July this year.

The Patshala run by the Sabha is said to be the oldest patshala in the city having been launched in 1932 with the blessings of Kanchi Periyava.

Over 500 students have graduated from the patshala in the past. As part of the patshala education, the students are also taught English and Maths.

The patshala is administered by a team of 20 committee members and run with the support of donors. The students stay full-time at the patshala through the eight years of the course.
