At Maharashtrian community’s Vinayaka Chathurthi celebration on Sunday, a dance set to abhangs

Maharashtra Education Fund will be hosting Vinayaka Chathurthi celebrations at its premises on TTK Road, Alwarpet on Sunday evening ( Sept 4).

The Ganapathy puja starts at about 4.20 p.m. followed by a classical dance based on abhangs where dancer Shivaranjani of Chrompet will perform – for about 30 minutes.

Pooran poli is part of the special high tea served to members and their families.

Senior member Meera Rao says the core team strives to celebrate key Maharashtrian festivals with events that sustain “our culture and traditions.”

This community celebrates Gudi Padwa ( new year), Chaitra Gowri puja, Sankaranthi and its Founder’s Day.
