Ward 124 councillor Vimala Krishnamurthy of the DMK and her husband were arrested by city police on Friday after they were charged with presenting fake documents claiming they had got anticipatory bail from a city court in a property dispute case.
The couple made news when a police complaint was lodged against them by a person who had some land dealing with them, which is said to have gone dirty.
The couple has sought relief from police arrest from Madras High Court.
