The popular hangout for New Year-eve revellers who wish to have a simple but community celebratory spirit on New Year’s eve is the Marina round tana opposite Gandhi statue.
The clock tower is illuminated and hundreds of people gather around here and roar when the clock strikes 12.
Police patrol is to be strong here and the personnel do not mind a quiet celebration till just after midnight.
But access of the Marina beach is cut off. Police have asked people not to enter the beach after 8 p.m. and warned that drunken driving will not be tolerated.
