CSI Good Shepherd Church in Alwarpet has completed 124 years (25.1.1899 to 24.1.2023) and entered into the 125th year on the 25th of January.
There was a special Thanksgiving service on Jan. 25. Then, the marriages of four poor couples from nearby villages were solemnised free of cost on Jan. 26. The church bore the entire expenses.
Y. Bhuvanesh Kumar, secretary of the pastorate committee said that for the convenience of the congregation, the church anniversary celebration was held on Sunday, Jan. 29.
Pastor Rev. Earnest Selva Durai led the prayer service. All the former pastors of the church and the pastor ammas were felicitated with gifts and shawls. Children who topped the Board exams of class 10 and 12 and excelled in sports were given cash prizes.
The elders of the parish were given anniversary gifts. The programme concluded with a fellowship lunch.
