Good response to terrace garden workshop in R. A. Puram

The Department of Horticulture, Government of Tamil Nadu in association with R A Puram Residents’ Association ( RAPRA) conducted a workshop on March 19 at R A Puram.

The focus – how to grow vegetables and fruits on the terrace and at open spaces in their homes.

At the well attended workshop by garden enthusiasts saplings of guava, hibiscus, tomatoes, brinjal, chilli, and ocra were given to the attendees free of cost.

Dr. R. Chandrasekaran, President of RAPRA, welcomed the gathering.

Balakumar, assistant director of the Department, demonstrated how to set up a terrace garden using Grow bags.  He also gave tips on the application of chemical-free manure and pesticides.

Gomathi  of R A Puram and Sai Brinda of West Mambalam were given a Grow bag  each, with saplings, for their enthusiastic interaction during the demo.

As the Horticulture team ran out of stock of their subsidised kits, manure and garden tools, another workshop is planned.
