Police man Marina Loop Road to ensure fish hawkers do not use road for sales

Men and women police have started patrolling Marina Loop Road to keep off fish hawkers from using the road to sell fish.

This follows an assurance from the city’s civic body to the High Court hearing a case on encroachments by fishers which hampers traffic movement here.

The civic body has fallen on the city police to ensure the hawkers do not spill on to the road at any cost.

Much of the sales take place post 4 p.m. daily and on weekends, through the day.

Hawkers continue to sell fish on the sand side of the road and a few on the pavement on the opposite side.
