Three vahana processions of Mylapore temples take place on Wednesday evening

It was a big evening for vahana processions in Mylapore on Wednesday with three Mada Street processions taking place after 8pm.
On the occasion of Vaikasi Poosam, the birthday of Sekkizhar, who wrote the Periya Puranam, was celebrated in a grand way at Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, with him being carried around the Mada Streets on the Yaanai Vahana starting at 8pm.
Half an hour later, as part of the third evening of the Vaikasi brahmotsavam at SVDD, Srinivasa Perumal went on a procession atop the Hanumantha vahana.
As prelude to the  ten-day Vaikasi utsavam that started on Thursday morning at Sri Velleeswarar Temple with the flag hoisting, Pillayar went on a procession around the four Mada Streets on the Mooshika vahana at 9.30pm.
