A new facility for the elderly – VH Elder Care, in association with Venkataeswara Hospitals, was launched a year ago on Justice Sundaram Road, Mylapore.
It has 17 beds and since this ‘home’ is backed by a hospital, residents here are assured of round-the-clock medical assistance.
A doctor and a small team of nurse and physiotherapist visit every day, say the promoters of this facility.
Padma Shri awardee Dr. V. S. Natarajan inaugurated the facility in April, 2022 in the presence of Dr Su Thillai Vallal, medical director and senior consultant cardiologist, Venkataeswara Hospitals and freedom fighter and former health secretary Lakshmikanthan Bharathi.
Sreenivasan, director ( admin) says that this ‘home’ admits senior citizens who need a place to stay and also may need medical support when the need arises. You can choose a single or double room; food is served and community/social facilities are provided here.
Currently, most residents here have chosen to stay here because they could not fend for themselves in apartments or homes and their NRI family supports them.
