Film director Mani Ratnam presents K. Balachander Memorial Award to ‘Kathadi’ Ramamurthy

The entire house at the main auditorium of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan gave a big round of applause as well-known film director Mani Ratnam presented the K. Balachander Memorial Award to veteran theatre and film personality Kathadi Ramamurthy at an event held on July 7, Friday evening.

The event was part of a celebration of the 93rd birthday of the well-known theatre and cinema personality, late  K. Balachander.

This award, to be given to an artiste for outstanding contribution to the theatre art has been instituted by Kavithalaya Krishnan, a protege of Balachander.

Many well-known people from the stage and cinema world attended this event.

After the award presentation, a Thamizh play titled “Kumin Chiruppu” by SB Creations, was staged.
