Aravind Eye Hospital’s city centre opens in Mylapore’s Nanjunda Rao Colony. Basic consultation, treatment provided here

Aravind Eye Hospital’s City Centre has opened its services in Mylapore’s Nanjunda Rao Colony.

This centre, part of the famed Arvind Hospital network with headquarters in Madurai, was inaugurated on September 11.

Dr. Kumar Hariharan, MS, DNB, FRCS will heads this centre where all investigations and tests related to eye ailments are done. People will have to go to the Poonamallee-based hospital only if they have to undergo surgeries.

Follow-up of the surgeries can be done here, said a staff at the Mylapore centre.  Tests like Optical coherence tomography (OCT),  Humphrey field analyser (HFA) and A-scan can be done here, for which there will be ‘special’ charges.

The Mylapore facility also houses an optical store and a medical store. High-quality spectacles can be bought here at nominal costs.  

The staff said that people will be charged only Rs 100 for a complete eye check. Such people can continue their follow-up consultation here.

The centre tests people for short / long sight, sight affected by diabetes and other such complaints.

“We have opened this centre in Mylapore to save people the trouble of going all the way to our hospital in Poonamallee,” said the staff.

The centre is open from 8.30 am to 5 p.m. (Monday to Saturday). Doctors will be available throughout the working hours here.
