Drugs-running kingpin Jaffer Sadiq, recently arrested by the Narcotics.Control Bureau, had a San Thome connection.
His home-cum-office was based in this zone; it was busted last week after NCB officials acted on information said to have been shared by men who were arrested at a Delhi godown, packing drugs to be exported, spilled the beans.
Sadiq who was on the run was arrested in western India.
He is said to be behind a massive drug-running business worth about Rs.2,000 crores. He had invested loads of money in many businesses including producing films.
The moment his name popped up as a drugs lord, it became known that he held a post in the DMK’s city’s NRI wing. The DMK quickly expelled him.
By then, social media was flooded with visuals of Sadiq seen with chief minister M K Stalin and other DMK leaders and shots of him at film functions with VIPs alongside.
