‘Big Boss’ bags five top prizes, ‘Katchi Pizhaigalo’ wins eight – at Kodai Nataka Vizha

The awards for dramas, artistes and others featured in the annual Kodai Nataka Vizha of Kartik Fine Arts have been announced.
‘Katchi Pizhaigalo’, the play which engaged a full audience at the venue – Narada Gana Sabha hall – grabbed eight awards including best actress for  Lavanya Venugopal.
The best actor award is for Girish Venkat ( for ‘Ambi Mama’); best playwright and dialogue writer – P. Muthukumaran ( for the play ‘Big Boss’) ; best direction for Sridhar Ramaswamy, who made his debut for ‘Thotra Mayakkangalo and best play award for ‘Big Boss’ of PMG Mayurappa – the producer, Ganapathy Shankar who is  a Mylaporean..  ‘Katch Pizhaigalo’ of thRee was chosen as second best play.
The best comedy play chosen for an award was ‘Meendum Thanikudithanam’ of JC Creations. The story, dialogues and direction for this play is by V P S Sriraman who  is a Mylaporean.
This troupe took part for the first time in the festival.
Best lighting award went to – Mylai Babu ( Thotra Mayakkangalo).
Out of 32 prizes, ‘Big Boss’ bagged five top prizes, ‘Katchi Pizhaigalo’ won eight, ‘Thotra Mayakkangalo’ of Dummies Drama accounted for seven prizes.
All first prizes carry a cash component, certificate and a trophy.
The awards, rolling trophies are to be presented at a function on June 1 evening at Narada Gana Sabha hall in Alwarpet.
