Local churches have encouraged its congregation to get involved in acts of charity during this Lenten season which ends this weekend.
At the CSI St Thomas Tamil Church in San Thome, people were asked to save some rice or dhal over the six weeks at home which could then be collected and given to the poor.
At the Good Friday service at this church on Friday, many families brought bags of rice/dhal and made the offering inside the church.
