Mylaporean Nellai D. Kannan is completing 50 years as a mridangist in the field of classical dance.
Abiramapuram-based Bharatanatyam school, Kala Darsana, will be celebrating the milestone of this senior artiste on May 11 in R. R. Sabha ( mini hall ) with a grand felicitation function.
Kala Darsana’s head, dancer and teacher Jayanthi Subramaniam said that Kannan has been associated with her dance productions for decades and continues to perform for her concerts.
That evening, after the formal felicitation, Kala Darsana dancers will perform ‘Kapali Arupatthumoovar’, a dance-drama which is “very dear” to Kannan.
This event is open to all. Starts at 4 p.m.
