EcoKonnectors Trust, in collaboration with Munnetram Trust and supported by FICCI FLO Chennai, hosted the ‘Make Best Out of Waste’ workshop on May 24 at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, Mylapore.
This initiative aimed to foster eco-consciousness and empower women self-help group members and specially-abled individuals with upcycling skills for viable business opportunities.
The workshop featured hands-on sessions where participants transformed temple flower waste into sambrani and handmade soaps.
Demonstrations on creating activated charcoal from coconut shells were held – to make charcoal pouches, soaps, and face masks.
With over 50 participants, including members from various self-help groups, NGOs, students, and pro-environment enthusiasts, the event was a vibrant platform for experiential learning.
Led by the dedicated EcoKonnectors team—Ashok, Bala, Ganga, and Sumithra, and Malathi and her team of trainers from Munnetram Trust the workshop emphasized practical waste reduction techniques, reinforcing upcycling as an impactful solution.
