Docu film on Subramania Bharathiar. Screening on June 26

INTACH’s Chennai chapter is screening of documentary “Shaktidasan – A Poet’s Quest for Truth” on June 26, 6.30 pm at Ashvita’s Gallery, off Dr Radhakrishnan Road, Mylapore.
The documentary film (in Tamil, with English subtitles) is focused exclusively on the spiritual— not religious—struggle and quest of the famous Tamil poet, Mahakavi Subramania Bharathiar.
In his short life of 38 years (11th December 1882 – 12th September 1921), the poet had myriad experiences and meetings with extraordinary persons, all of which shaped his thinking, philosophy and ideals and catalysed his brilliant writings, which are extremely relevant even today.
This 70 minute documentary by Siundarya Sukumar, has been shot in various places where Bharathiar lived – Ettayapuram, Kadayam, Varanasi, Chennai and Pondicherry and showcases some of his significant poems, works and revolutionary ideas which impacted the times he lived in, during the Indian freedom struggle.
This documentary comprises narration and dramatization, with visuals, songs, dance and cinematic techniques that make the storytelling both informative and compelling.
Ashvita is at 2, 4th Street, Dr R K Salai; near Seethapathy EVK Clinic. Open to all.
