Water ATMs launched in 3 places across Mylapore zone. People can have a glass of potable water here, free

Three water ATMs were launched in the Mylapore zone this June 18 morning.  A Metrowater tank, filled  with water, supplies it to this ATM, which filters it and provides drinking water through two taps, like at any public water- dispensing machine.

The water ATMs are at South Mada Street ( temple tank pavement side), Bharathidasan Road and on Marina Loop Road, off San Thome.

One tap provides 150ml water suited for tumblers and the 1 litre tap provides for water to be filled in flasks/ bottles.

A  Metrowater tanker fills the tank installed alongside the water ATM daily.

While chief minister M K Stalin launched these water ATMs across the city with a symbolic event on the Marina, on South Mada Street, Mylapore MLA Dha Velu, local councillors and DMK cadres took part in the formal local launch. ( second photo)

  1. Government has introduced mini bus services in Chennai is a welcome step. But in Mylapore those who want to go to Adyar or Teynampet Metro station, they are finding much difficult since aged people couldn’t walk either to Luz Nageswararao park or to Srinivasa avenue due to no bus service. Hence, it is requested MTC to introduce mini bus service from Mylapore tank to Adyar as well as Teynampet metro station which will give immense help for old aged people and physically handicapped people
