Thattaivadai Settu, that famed snack Salem is known for, among other snacks, can now be had in Alwarpet. At Madras Munch Box, which opened in late June at the junction of C. V. Raman Road near C. P. Ramasamy Road, in the place when the Jamoon shop was.
Swathi and Niranjani and a third partner who wishes to remain anonymous, got to know each other through their children. The idea of a snacks business bore into them and the Munch Box was launched.
The other specials here are the popular Madurai Butter Bun and momos.
Its location offers people on the move to stop and have a quick snack. Burgers and French fries, tea and coffee, are on the menu, which will enlarge as the buzz gets going.
Swathi says she plans to open a filter coffee counter at dawn. “There are many walkers in the Alwarpet zone and we found they would like a cup of coffee offered in this zone,” she said.
The shop now opens at 11 a.m. and closes around 10 p.m.
