A fire broke out in one of the apartments in Raheja Regency complex on Dr D G S Dinakaran Road, near the Ambedkar Mantapam in R A Puram this evening ( Aug.19).
Smoke was seen coming out of a fifth/seventh storey apartment even as Fire Service vans arrived at the scene and a giant ladder was operated at the rear end of the block.
Fire staff asked all residents to come down and advised them to move out till all was clear.
Some people headed to a nearby school hall while many headed to houses of relatives and friends.
At 7 p.m. it became clear that this was a localised fire set off by electrical short circuit. Nobody was hurt or injured, we learn.
