Chief minister M. K. Stalin dropped into the Tholkappia Poonga in R. A. Puram one recent morning, went around the nature campus, walked down the elevated walkway that connects two lungs of the Poonga and marked his visit by planting a sapling.
With him were ministers K. N. Nehru and Ma. Subramaniam and Mylapore MLA, Dha Velu.
For many months, work has been going on here for its restoration and for setting up new facilities.
Poonga officials have not yet said when the Poonga will be re-opened to the public and on the admission process for the public. A major civil work is still going on in the two sections of the Poonga, to settle large water pipelines across D G S Dinakaran Road to allow free flow of water that is in the Poonga, which is part of the Adyar estuary.
