While the city’s popular caterers have been cooking sweets and savouries in large spaces in Mylapore this past week, offering a variety of combos for Deepavali, the locally popular stores for sweets and savouries have been abuzz the past days.

One such place is Deepam Sweets & Karam, located in the GCC Shopping Complex in R. A. Puram’s 3rd Cross Street ( first photo featured here) . Being well-known in that area of the neighbourhood, Deepam gets orders in advance and also keeps in mind the special requests of seniors and those with some health problems but keen to savour the goodies at festival time.

At caterer Subham Ganesan’s store on Mandaveli’s Devanathan Street, the inshop customers have been keeping the salespeople busy. Being a caterer, Subham tends to offer home-made sweets to his customers.

At Nithya Amirtham restaurant in Mylapore, their special sweets and savouries gift packs caught the eye. The packaging and the display is attractive and the variety is good.
Surya Sweets in R. A. Puram always has a steady stream of its customers and sales hit a high here the past few days. Packages of savouries and sweets are the popular requests here.
Mylapore Ganapathy’s store located off Chitrakulam, where people commonly head for fresh ghee and savouries, now has a range of sweets and savouries on offer. It’s combo pack – with Badusha, ribbon pakoda, kara seva and ladoo and more – is priced at Rs.1,000 and makes for a gift pack too.
