Usha Subramaniam, a Mylapore resident who writes under the pen name of Vidya Subramaniam is an eminent Tamil author.
She was felicitated with the Akshara award for her work “Akasa Thoothu” at a function held at Savera Hotel on October 14.
She was presented a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh, a memento and a citation. Former Supreme Court judge and current chairperson of the National Human Rights Commission, Justice V. Ramasubramanian presided over the function and presented the awards
The literary honour was initiated by renowned writer Sivasankari under the banner of Sivasankari Chandrasekaran Charities to recognise contributions to Tamil literature.
