A tea-shop owner in Bazaar Road, Mylapore was arrested and then released on station bail after a case was filed against him for beating a street dog to death.
This incident took place on Nov.14. Police said that the dog had attacked a man who came to the tea shop. When the tea-shop owner used a stick to chase away the dog, it tried to jump on him. The man went after the dog and beat it so badly that it died on the street.
An animal rights activist later filed a case at the Mylapore police station and the arrest was made.
