A. R. Rahman to be given prestigious award at R. R. Sabha. Dec.15

The Lakshminarayana International Award 2025 will be given to music director A. R. Rahman on December 15 at Rasika Ranjani Sabha, Mylapore, at an event that starts at 2 p.m.

The Lakshminarayana Global Trust said in a media note that the award recognizes Rahman’s extraordinary
global contributions to music and the arts.

Established in 1997 by the Lakshminarayana Global Music Festival headed by well-known violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam, this award honours individuals who have made significant and lasting contributions to their artistic fields.

The first award was presented to Lord Yehudi Menuhin by the then president of India, K. R. Narayanan.
Since then, it has honoured many legendary artistes and cultural icons.

Each award includes a specially commissioned Tanjore painting of Lord Ganesha playing
the violin—symbolising auspicious beginnings and paying tribute to Prof. V. Lakshminarayana, the father of L. Subramaniam.
