The image of Nandi inside Sri Kapali Temple, Mylapore looked plain this January 16 morning, a day celebrated as Mattu Pongal as part of the Pongal celebrations.
There was a garland of flowers and some thoranams around the statue which is located near the flag-mast of the temple.
This surprised people who are regulars here.
In the past, the Nandi was elaborately decorated with flowers and fruits to mark the festival.
