Thyagaraja aradhana events at Sri Thiagaraja Sangeetha Vidwat Samajam start on. Jan.6

The annual saint Thyagaraja aradhana hosted by Sri Thiagaraja Sangeetha Vidwat Samajam in Mylapore starts on  Tuesday, January 6 at its premises in Thyagarajapuram.

The evening starts with nagaswaram by Mylai Kartikeyan and artistes at 5 p.m. and at 6.30 p.m. is the inauguration by vidwan Dr T V Gopalakrishnan and this is followed by a vocal concert by T V S Mahadevan.

On January 7, the day starts at 8.30 a. m. with Veda parayanam and unchavritti followed by mass singing of Thyagarja’s pancharatna kritis by artistes and musicians in this campus which is located near Sri Madhava Perumal Temple.

Artistes and rasikas can join this aradhana.

That evening, at 6.15 p.m.  there is a Harikatha concert themed on ‘Sri Thyagaraja Charithram’.

Thereafter, daily, in the evenings, music students and young artistes will perform here.

On January 26, 7 p.m. onwards, there will be a procession in which Samajam members, artistes and rasikas will carry the portrait of saint Thyagaraja from the Samajam through streets of this area and return to the campus. On the way, they will also stop outside Sri Mundagakanni Amman Temple to sing the composer’s song on the Amman.
