The second edition of the Asmita League (held under the Khelo India programme) for women rowers was held at Madras Boat Club on January 24.
25 participants competed in 8 events, in some closely fought races.
Under a CSR project managed by and at Madras Boat Club, 15 underprivileged girls have been training for the past six months under the eye of coach James.

The Asmita League is their first rowing competition. Eight of them won medals – one bronze, two silvers, and two golds.
The state body, TARA and the national body, RFI work closely with the government to carry out these initiatives.
