Kumbhabiskeham of new Thiruvalluvar Temple held on Feb.27

A few hundred people gathered inside the new-look, completely re-constructed, all-granite temple dedicated to Thiruvalluvar located in a small street of Mylapore on February 27 morning to participate in the temple’s kumbabishekam.

A group of priests followed the rituals prescribed for this event, carrying holy water to the top of the vimanas for Valluvar, Vasuki, Shiva, Muruga and Vinakaya, using the temporary staircases set up for this occasion.

The Mylapore MLA and HR & CE department officials participated in this two-hour long event. On Thursday, the homams that must be followed for a  kumbabishekam  were conducted here throughout the day.

The place looks so different now but we are told there is still work to be done.
