Nrithya and Sangeetha from ‘Paanchajanya’ are presenting a socio-cultural event themed ‘Vivaha Vaibhogam’ on February 14 at a venue in R. A. Puram.
The promoters say this is a ‘specially curated experience of the spiritual heart of a social ceremony – kalyanam – the wedding.’
Guests at the event will get to understand the meaning and significance of different aspects of a traditional South Indian wedding, complete with a traditional wedding meal served on a banana leaf.
Renowned Vedic scholar, Sarma Sastrigal will speak on Vivāha in the Hindu way of life.
Jayanthi Iyengar will tell stories of wedding festivities as narrated in Tamil literature, Sowmya Ramesh will sing songs that embellish each aspect of the wedding ceremony and Dr. Madhumitha Krishnan, Ayurvedic vaidya, will explain the why of the wedding meal, the nuances of plating and serving and how it is to be eaten.
