The start to the Pamguni fest of Sri Kapali Temple harks to an age-old practice – praying to the grama devathai for goodness and wellness for the celebration.
This is a small but significant ritual honoured to this day – and it took place this March22, Sunday morning as the Panguni festival of 2022 gets underway.
A group of women carried fruits, silks and religious articles needed for the ritual, in a car, from Sri Kapali Temple, stopped at the gate of the Kolavizhi Amman Temple, in that narrow street, and walked in to make their presentation.
After a short series of reloigious practices, the group returned to the Sri Kapali Temple.
