Much appreciation must go to the Urbaser Sumeet team of over 100 workers and supervisors for playing a crucial role in the ongoing Panguni festival.
Daily, the workers have been proactive in clearing waste off the mada veedhis.
And they broke their backs on March 30, in the 32 degree plus bheat, the day of the arabathimoovar procession when record number of people attended.
A fallout of the community donation of food and snacks to people held all across the temple zone, lots of waste food, plates and plastic were thrown on the streets through the day.
The Urbaser team of zone 9, worked through the day, then past the midnight hour, long after people had gone home, to clean the streets.
Around 3 am on March 31, a mini lorry of GCC was engaged to load the waste and then, water hoses were deployed to water wash the streets.
