Census of India enumerators have been doing the rounds in multiple places of the Mylapore zone this weekend.
Families who had not completed the online census process were requested to respond to the entire form for each household furnishing information ranging from household members’ gender, education, caste, education and even stuff like material used for construction and cereals consumed.
There are about 33 questions listed for documentation and this job takes about 10-15 minutes at each door.
Those who had already filled the form online before July 31 were requested to provide their enrollment ID that they had received in the e-mail. This was to help the volunteer to ensure the data was filed.
One residents of Mandaveli said, “Some residents had concerns about the background of the volunteers. People must know that all volunteers are carrying an ID card with a QR code which can be scanned and we can validate if they are genuine enumerators.”
Another person said that the enumerators are well trained and efficient at their job.
