Shops in Luz Circle flooded with rainwater. Barricading by Chennai Metro is the cause

Chennai Metro’s project work in Luz has already caused grief and pain for many shop owners and retailers. All because the shops got ‘barricaded’ and were left high and dry.

Now, shops like the ones in Luz Bazaar complex are getting flooded after a good spell of rain. The recent case was on Thursday evening when it poured. Rainwater entered a few shops and damaged some goods too. All because the Metro’s barricades have cut off natural water flow and stormwater drains.

This is yet another case to illustrate Chennai Metro’s indifference to the ‘inconvenience’ its project has caused to retailers and to people.

Be it providing well-lit temporary bus stops, relaying of roads / streets that now carry ‘diverted’ traffic or repair of ‘blocked’ drains, Chennai Metro and civic agencies seem to care little for the ‘inconvenience’
