Members of the St. Vincent de Paul Society unit attached to Our Lady of Guidance Church R. A. Puram, led by it’s president Vincent conducted a survey of the church zone recently to identify students from poor families who required financial aid.
They identified 50 students to grant monetary support.
Vincent said that the chosen ones were some who did not have parents around them, some had a single parent or some came from broken families. “This project chose youth who were Christians as well as Hindus,” said Vincent.
On August 23, parish priest Fr. T. Anthony Raj handed over the cheques to the chosen students. Cheques of Rs 3000 were given to students in primary school, cheques of Rs 4000 to students in high school and cheques of Rs 5000 were given to students in higher secondary and college levels.
