B. Madhavi, 62 years old and a resident of Karpagam Avenue, R. A. Puram passed away on Sept. 1.
She was the secretary of Lalitha Kala Vedika, a private cultural body founded by her father B. V. S. S.Mani and his wife Lalitha Ratnam. The Vedika hosted music concerts at small venues till recently.
Madhavi was a trained Carnatic music vocalist. Her guru was vidwan Calcutta Krishnamurthy. Madhavi and her sister Sundari sang for their dancer-sister, Lakshmi Mani at her Kuchipudi concerts.
The family maintained seven cows in this residence and Madhavi personally took care of them. “She was so fond of the cows that if one of them mooed even at midnight, she would get up and visit the cow shed<” said Padma Prakash, her sister.
