N. Venkataraman, a long-time resident of Mylapore, passed away on September 13. He was 87.
Born on September 4, 1939, Venkataraman retired as office superintendent of the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board ( TNEB).
He studied at P. S High School and went to Vivekananda College for his undergrad studies. He then got a job with TNEB and worked for it for around 35 years.
His family said he often donated for the medical or educational needs of people who sought his help.
He visited Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple daily, and did so till his end, his family added. After the temple visit, he would drop into a sabha hall to listen to Carnatic music concerts.
His family said that he was so keen to know all that happened in Mylapore that he would never miss to read Mylapore Times on Saturdays.
