Workers of Greater Chennai Corporation are continuing their work to ensure areas are prepared for the monsoon season ahead. They have been given a deadline to complete such works.
Monsoon is expected to start by mid-October.
This week, workers were seen in Mandaveli repairing some drains and cleaning silt-traps.
They are also focussed on completing work on the drains located on Venkatakrishna Road, from the TN Police Quarters campus end to the Devanathan Street junction.
This is one area which gets flooded when the rain is steady. Often, the Police Quarters, when flooded, gets people to pump out all the water on to this busy road.
Workers are also cleaning silt-trap pits and covers built alongside streets which help prevent garden and other waste from running into the drains and clogging them.
