A parking lot created and managed off Luz Church Road by the Tamil Nadu HR & CE Dept that manages temples is in a poor condition and hence, discourages car owners of this area from using this paid facility.
About 30 cars can be parked here.
The space is dark at night since all the light it receives is from lighting in the neighbouring The Mylapore Club.
Shrubs and plants are growing all over the place – clearly showing that attention for maintenance is almost nil. The watchman who mans the parking lot said there could be a few snakes around.
The facility has security-men working in two shifts – the place is open to users from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. A leading hospital has been parking its ambulances here.
Since owners of local shops and offices use this space since it is convenient, one of them said that the facility must be improved.
The location is not visible because of the large barricades set up for Chennai Metro work.
HOW TO BOOK PARKING LOT?
A deposit of Rs 3000/ is to be paid to Sri Kaplai Temple at its office. This apart, a sum of Rs 3540/ is collected as parking fee every month – this Includes GST @18%. The payment shall be made by way of cash or cheque.
Office staff said that since the parking lot is fully booked, fresh bookings are not made now. Contact – 24641670
