Ramzan season food

The Muslim community is observing Ramzan, a time for prayer and fasting. The fast is broken by partaking of a meal of snacks and kanji or haleem.

Most people break their fast at the community hall at local mosques.

Of late, the Ramzan food has become a seasonal menu at some restaurants.

Palmshore restaurant at San Thome High Road is offering this food now.

On the menu is Arabian grape juice, Qubani sweet, mutton samosas, Hyderabad Haleem and Hyderabad dum briyani.

“We have a special chef with us who prepares these items,” says Najeeb of Palmshore.

The special this year is the Arabian grape juice. This is made by boiling grape fruit. It is priced at Rs.55.

Qubani sweet is made from Kashmir dates and apricot fruit. This is a sweet – sour item. Rs.40 for small and Rs.80 for a large serving.

The Hyderabad Dum Briyani is priced at Rs.135 and Hyderabad Haleem is priced at Rs.140 for small serving and Rs.220 for large.

All these items are also available as take away too. This menu will be available till August 20.
