S. Rangachai, retired Customs Maritime Collector, Central Excise passed away on Oct.31. He was 93.
Rangachari was fondly called as Iyengar mama in Mandaveli area. He was a resident of Mylapore and Mandaveli for over 40 years.
He used to help in solving civic problems in his area and took up mattes with the local authorites, says S. Kailasam, his neighbour.
He was also very helpful to fellow pensioners in the area helping to get their arrears, he added.
Rangachari’s wife died a few years ago. He is survived by five daughters and a son.
