All the gates of the Sri Kapaleeshwarar Temple Tank were thrown open at 5 a.m. today to enable the public to offer oblations to their ancestors on the occasion of Mahalaya Amavasya.
More than 500 people had gathered there by 7 a.m and priests were seen instructing the people performing the rituals. This is expected to go on till afternoon.
