Sunday ‘Kutcheri in the Park’ completes 12 years

25 students from P. S. Senior Secondary School, Mylapore presented a lively group mikeless kutcheri on Sunday, Jan 7, the final day of the Sundaram Finance Mylapore Festival at Nageswara Rao Park, Luz.

Mylapore MLA R. Nataraj presented the certificates to the artistes and a memento to the school’s music teacher Latha Anantharaman.

Also present at the park that morning was Arul Priya, a student who had presented a kutcheri as a 13 year old from Dubai way back in 2008. A music teacher now, Arul Priya was there at the park as the guru of one of the students at the group kutcheri.

No mikes and speakers are used at this event. 1200 children have presented kutcheris since this event was launched 12 years ago. A committee from Sundaram Finance conducts auditions to select the artistes.
