Pongal celebration at two local temples in Mylapore

The local temples in Mylapore have planned special festivities for Pongal festival.

On the Pongal day ( Jan.15), Satyanarayana pooja will take place at Sri Sai Baba Temple at Venkatesa Agraharam Road from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. People can offer sugarcane sticks and small turmeric plants on this day.

At Sri Kapaleeswarar Temple, Mylapore on Jan.16, the deity of Nandi will be beautifully decorated with ladoo, adhirasam and sweet varieties. A special deeparadanai will also take place for the cattle at the Goshala here. Says a staff who is in charge of Goshala, “All the cows will be decorated and taken in a procession inside the temple. “Sakkarai Pongal will be cooked and distributed to the devotees after neivedyam.
